Meet the Team

At Seniors Helping Seniors® Raleigh, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Kathy and Rich Uveges firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Raleigh, Wake Forest, and surrounding areas.

Kathy and Rich Uveges live in Wake Forest, NC with two of their four children, and two dogs. They traveled extensively, living in northern Virginia, southern California, central Virginia and Zagreb, Croatia before making Wake Forest their home in 2009.

Kathy and Rich’s interest in the senior care area is a direct result of participating in the care of their elderly relatives. Kathy's maternal grandmother, “Memaw”, lived to age 98 and in her own home until she was 94. Kathy was directly involved in the decision to move her to an assisted living situation and if home care services were available the move would have been postponed longer. Kathy's paternal grandmother passed away at age 95 and Kathy, along with other family members, were able to fulfill her desire to age in place until the end. Rich's dad is 93, lives independently nearby, participated in the establishment of the franchise, and is now transitioning to a care recipient.

Gina Samia, RN Supervisor
Gina has worked as the RN Trainer and RN Supervisor for Seniors Helping Seniors® Raleigh since March 2022. Gina has been a RN for over 38 years with experience in various care settings. She lives in Wake Forest with her husband and 3 children.

Gina enjoys the relationships she has with the clients, getting to know their unique life stories, preferences, and interests of each one. Gina considers it a privilege to help seniors continue their lives in their own home. She strives to ensure that their care plan is not just about meeting basic needs but also about creating a fulfilling and engaging environment.

Dee Rutowski, Client Care Coordinator
Dee came to Seniors Helping Seniors® Raleigh in 2020 and her second calling after a career as an accountant and Human Resources professional. A mother of two boys Dee has always been most interested in caring for others, whether in HR, volunteering or now with SHS.

Dee worked as a caregiver with Seniors Helping Seniors before becoming a Client Care Coordinator. In this role, Dee meets with clients to help them learn about our services. She also trains and mentors caregivers to equip them for providing care to their clients. Most importantly she interacts with both clients and their caregivers to ensure all needs are being met and that there is a “good fit,” laying the foundation for a strong relationship. Seeing the positive differences in our clients, as well as our caregivers, as relationships grow is what makes Dee excited to get out of bed in the morning!

Ashley Roy, Office Manager
Ashley began working for Seniors Helping Seniors® Raleigh in December 2022 as an Administrative Assistant. Her passion for helping our seniors, and our senior caregivers, was apparent from the start and she was promoted to Office Manager in early 2024.

Ashley is the calm, professional voice on the other end of the phone who prides herself on finding solutions that work for both our clients and our caregivers. She is always quick to help with any requests with a smile and enjoys helping others.

Joyce Kelly, Operations Support Specialist
Joyce has been working with Seniors Helping Seniors® Raleigh since 2022. This is also her ‘second calling’ after a long career in various customer service roles. This experience shows in her calm demeanor and pleasant conversation skills.

If you’ve been hired in the last two years, you probably already know Joyce. Her passion and joy in her work comes through to the people she interacts with, and she brightens everyone’s day that she meets.

How to Get Started

Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services matches seniors who want to provide help with seniors who are looking for help. We started in 1998 with a simple concept that seniors can help each other age better and that those who give and those who receive benefit equally. Since 1998, we have grown from our first match to working with hundreds of helpers and clients. We've continued to grow geographically. We continue to expand the training for our helpers. And we've added services in response to the needs of our clients.
