Our Team

Bridgett Wheeler, RN Care Coordinator
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from North Carolina Central University, and later obtained a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Nursing Education from Walden University. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while caring for my mother at home, I pursued my graduate studies and deepened my commitment to patient-centered care and nursing education. I bring 17 years of nursing experience, primarily focused on case management, with much of my career spent as a Hospice Nurse Case Manager. Prior to entering the nursing profession, I worked for 11 years as a licensed cosmetologist, an experience that strengthened my interpersonal skills and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. As the daughter of an Army servicemember, I had the opportunity to travel extensively during my childhood, which exposed me to different cultures and perspectives and shaped my adaptable and compassionate approach to care. I strongly believe that empathy and compassion are essential components of effective healthcare. Inspired by my grandmother’s example of caring for others in her community, I developed an early appreciation for the balance between the science and the spirituality of healing, and I remain committed to holistic care. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters and my young granddaughter. I also value self-care through meditation, reading, and music.

Monanda Hunter, Client Services Coordinator
I’m a proud Libra who values balance, collaboration, and positive energy in everything I do. I genuinely love what I do and take pride in bringing both professionalism and personality to the team each day. Outside of work, my favorite color is blue, tacos are my fuel, and I’ll never turn down a good Sponge Bob reference. I believe work can be productive, focused and still have room for fun.

Evelyn Cruz, Caregiver
With over 15 years of experience working in structured group home environments, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This work has reinforced my belief that providing care and advocacy for those who require specialized support is not simply a profession, but a meaningful vocational calling. Empowering individuals and helping enhance their quality of life continues to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey. I recognize that life can present unexpected health challenges, particularly as individuals age. During these times, compassionate and skilled caregivers play a vital role in providing comfort, support, and peace of mind to both those receiving care and their families. At the heart of my philosophy is a commitment to empathy, dignity, and mutual support. I view caregiving as more than a service—it is a mission to foster a culture of compassion and care for one another and for humanity as a whole.

How to Get Started

Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services matches seniors who want to provide help with seniors who are looking for help. We started in 1998 with a simple concept that seniors can help each other age better and that those who give and those who receive benefit equally. Since 1998, we have grown from our first match to working with hundreds of helpers and clients. We've continued to grow geographically. We continue to expand the training for our helpers. And we've added services in response to the needs of our clients.
